Across the globe, you can find hundreds of different cities and countries. Every single one of them is unique and special in their own way. The countries have their own culture, their own history, architecture, nature, and all kinds of other stuff. Out of those 195 countries, Canada is definitely one of the most unique ones. This massive piece of land on planet Earth is rich with the history of several different cultures and people. There are some things you can find in Canada where you will not be able to find anywhere else.
However, these days, it is difficult to find something that is truly unique to just one country. Today, everyone can travel from one hemisphere to the other hemisphere in just a couple of hours. And all of that for a very cheap price.
But, even though travel is so cheap and available to the public these days, there are still some things that are very unique to Canada. So, I decided to find out what are those things and write an article about them.
Keep in mind, this is not 100% accurate. I am sure that these things that I am going to mention this article can be found in some other countries around the world.
See the Niagara Falls
When someone mentions nature and Canada in one sentence, I always think of the Niagara Falls. In fact, I am sure that you and almost everyone else thinks the same thing. It might be the most amazing group of waterfalls on the entire planet.
Although I am sure that some people would disagree with this statement, it definitely is the top five groups of waterfalls.
The three waterfalls at the Niagara Gorge are the Horseshoe Falls, American Falls, and the Bridal Veil Falls. Out of those three, two of them are within the United States. The American Falls and the Bridal Veil Falls are both in the US.
However, Horseshoe Falls is the largest of the three and probably the most unique one. So, if you are in the US, you just cannot get that same experience as you can in Canada. The true Niagara Falls experience can only be found in Canada.
Bagged milk
This item on this article might not be as impressive as the Niagara Falls, but it is still something that you can only find in Canada. Although, I have seen that some countries in Eastern Europe do have these.
However, it is still very unique and kind of weird for those that are not familiar with such a product. Milk, instead of coming in a glass bottle or a carton, it comes in a plastic bag. People started using these because they were much lighter and easier to handle than glass bottles. You drop a glass bottle, it breaks and everything is covered in milk. When you drop plastic milk back, nothing happens. If it is open, it will start to leak out, but that is it.
Naturally, as milk in cartons became popular around the world, people preferred this new method of storing milk. But, for some reason, in Canada, people still prefer to use plastic bags. So, the next time you are in Canada and you want to eat some cereal in the morning, I would suggest getting a plastic bag of milk.
Maple syrup
The maple tree and the Maple leaf is the most widely recognized national symbol of Canada. That is why you can find the maple leaf on the flag of this country.
Since this kind of a tree is so common on this massive piece of land, Canadians have managed to find tons of uses for them. One of the most iconic uses of the maple tree is to create. Of course, you can find this type of syrup in the United States, but many Canadians claim that syrup in the US is not as authentic.
I think I can agree with that statement because maple syrup products that come from Canada are usually much tastier and go better with things such as pancakes, waffles, or French toast.
So, if you do love maple syrup, make sure you stock up on a couple of bottles before leaving.
Vista trail
For those that are interested in hiking, you will love this one. The Vista Trail is around 3.1 km long with 400 m of elevation. It is one of the best places you can hike in Canada and one of the best views for Toronto. Not only will you enjoy the nature around you, but you also enjoy the amazing view that you will get from the two-level viewing deck.
You will not have to worry about too much crowd because not a lot of people walk the Vista trail. Although, if you do not like this one, there are several others that you can find around Toronto as suggested by Kev’s Best.
The Hockey Hall of Fame
It is no secret how much Canadians love playing hockey. Sure, there is also a huge interest in hockey in the United States, but I do not think it can be compared to Canada’s love for this sport. Almost every high school, middle school, or college offers hockey practice.
What makes things even more unique is the fact that in Toronto, you will be able to find the Hockey Hall of Fame. This is definitely something that you will not be able to find anywhere else around the world. The people living in this country truly live for hockey.
The museum was first built in 1943 in Toronto. Right now, on the front of the building, you will be able to see the famous hockey players Modano, Blake, Forsberg, Hasek, and many more. With the decision from a committee, these featured players on the front of the building are changed over time.
There are a lot more things that are unique to Canada, but I believe that these things are mentioned are truly special to this country. So, next time you decide to visit this northern part of North America, I suggest that you try and experience these things.
